CURRICULUM | GRADES 7 & 8
The Middle School curriculum for students in Grades 7 - 8 provides a solid foundation for students in preparation for high school. With a variety of subjects, including: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Language, Religious Studies, Physical Education & Wellness, Fine Arts, and Computer Science, Saint John's students will experience a variety of course offerings in their time as a middle schooler that will work to create not only a solid foundation in the understanding of the subject matters, but also offer students the ability to hone their study and teamwork skills - in preparation for high school and beyond.
CURRICULUM | GRADES 9 - 12
In high school, Saint John's students can expect course offerings over a broad range of topics at a variety of levels that best suit the needs of the individual student - including 48 Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
ENGLISH: English I, English II, English III, English IV, Creative Writing, English Language & Composition (AP), English Language (AP), and English Literature & Composition (AP).
MATHEMATICS: Algebra I, Algebra II, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Calculus-AB (AP), Calculus-BC (AP), Geometry, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Principles of Accounting & Finance, and Statistics.
SCIENCE: Anatomy/Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science (1 & AP), Physics, Physics 1 (AP), Physics 2 (AP), Physics C, and Principles of Engineering.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Art History, Comparative Government & Politics, Contemporary U.S. History, Economics, Entrepreneurship Studies, European History, Introduction to Economics, Micro/Macro Economics (AP), U.S. Government & Politics (available in AP), U.S. History (available in AP), and World History (available in AP).
RELIGIOUS STUDIES: Bioethics, Business Ethics, Christian Life, Christian Morality & Social Justice, Comparative Religion, Sacraments and the Church, Sacred Scripture, World Religions.
WORLD LANGUAGE: Saint John's offers Spanish, French and Chinese at Levels I, II, III, IV and AP.
COMPUTER SCIENCE: Computer Science I - Intro to Java, Computer Science II - Java Graphics, Computer Science A (AP), Computer Science Principles (AP), Data Applications: Statistics & Sports, Desktop Publishing, Fundamentals of Computing, Graphic Design, Intro to Adobe Photoshop, Web Design, Web Design II.
FINE ARTS: Visual Art Courses: Studio Art (1, 2 & 3), Advanced Studio Art, Art History (AP); Music Courses: Chorus, Concert Band, String Ensemble, Guitar, Guitar Ensemble, Music Theory (AP); Theater Courses: Acting, Intro to Theater, Playwriting, Theater Production, Theatrical Design.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION & WELLNESS: The goals of the Saint John's Physical Education & Wellness programs are to help each student realize the value of good health, lead them to an appreciation of physical activity as a means to good health and source of enjoyment, and encourage an appreciation of the role and value of competition as a means of developing a mature individual. Students will: develop an understanding of the rights and responsibilities to themselves and others, interpersonal skills, improve self-concept and self-understanding, a value for the strengths and weaknesses of self and others, become familiar with a variety of activities that can be engaged in for fun, health and social reward, explore the moral and ethical questions inherent in group work, be able to apply learning to other group situations in their lives, and develop their accountability for thoughts and actions.
